As we end a very emotional & busy year, here in the hollow, we are intentionally slowing things down to embrace the end of 2022 with gratitude & hope; while we look forward to another year of simplifying & living more intentionally for the Lord.
.
In 2022, we suffered great loss as we had to say good bye to my father-in-law in the beginning of the year & my own father two months ago. We also lost my father-in-law’s youngest brother & our sweet Australian shepherd, Abby. 😔
.
Even with so much loss this past year, our hearts are thankful for the time we had with our loved ones. We are even more thankful for the simple fact that they are no longer suffering or in pain. Praise the Lord! 🖐🏻
.
We make the leap into the new year with excitement & anticipation for what is yet to come. What are you most excited about in the new year?! 👇🏻

Thankful for the little things here in the hollow.

Thankful for the little things here in the hollow. The memories we have made over the years and the memories we are currently making. The projects we have completed and those yet to be touched.

When my dad & my mom would visit the farm, my dad would say, “Maybe in thirty years, you will make a dent in your to-do list.” Well, his noble efforts during long visits, made a considerable dent in that list. I don’t think there is one room that he didn’t leave his unique mark in. 👏🏻
.
Seeing my dad’s health decline so drastically over the past five years, has been tough because for as long as I have known him, he stayed active & engaged. Sadly, his last days, he was unrecognizable. His condition left him unable to enjoy the lifestyle he once had with those he loved so much. 💔
.
I have been quiet over here, just living one day at a time with my family, knowing that it wouldn’t be long before we would have to say good bye to my sweet father.
.
It is with a heavy heart that I share that my father made his journey home four days ago. It still doesn’t seem real! 😔 BUT our hope is in the Lord & knowing that my dad chose Jesus in the end makes his heartbroken “little girl” overjoyed knowing that the BEST is yet to come for my father. 🤗
.
What a blessing to know that we will see each other again one day! 🙌🏻 Perhaps, he has been reunited with our Little Samuel already. ❤️

Thank you, Jesus for the gift of salvation! ❤️

And just like that, summer is beginning to fade, as we get a taste of fall with these cooler mornings & chillier nights. 🤗

Water was scarce the last few months & we had to get creative with our off-grid homesteading skills. The Lord provided, as He always does & we walked away with more confidence for any future challenges we may encounter down the road. 👏🏻

Life on the homestead isn’t always easy. It takes a lot of hard work, sweat, tears, patience, & problem solving to just keep our heads above the water, most days. BUT days like these, remind us that it’s all worth it! 🤗

Never stop learning & growing! There’s always room for improvement. Life is a journey worth taking! 🖐🏻 So jump in with both feet.

Finally unpacked and settled back in the hollow af

Finally unpacked and settled back in the hollow after being on the west coast for two weeks. 👏🏻 The kids and I had an awesome visit with my side of the family. 🤗
.
Now, it’s time to get back to business & get some work done around the farmhouse & farm in preparation for the upcoming fall 🍂 season.
.
The living room, family room, & our room got some deep cleaning after the hubby did some demolition in the laundry room while we were gone. 💪 All the bed linens got washed & beds remade.
.
Next on the deep cleaning list is the dining area off of our kitchen. I knew this $15 auction house crate find from months ago, would be a perfect addition to this simple table. It was our first new table in the first house we purchased together over 20 years ago. 😍
.
We eat every meal around this table and do crafts after our homeschool lessons here. We also use it for our science experiments, canning sessions, & sewing projects. Having a crate to corral all the things is a helpful way to still have something pretty, but practical.🖐🏻 It helps that our flower garden is still blooming & our hydrangeas we’re begging to be brought in. 😍

Local strawberries 🍓, fresh mint 🌱, homemade whipped cream, & Einkorn #sourdough biscuits on a sunny ☀️ day in the hollow. 🎉 I can press repeat on THIS all week long! 😉

So glad we can enjoy the taste of these delicious strawberries 🍓 even after the strawberry season has ended.

Happy first day of summer! 🖐🏻 The temps here in TN have been record breaking highs. 🥵 So, we have been spending more of our days outdoors, soaking up the sunshine & sweating out the toxins on the courts, in the garden, & in the pastures with our growing herd. 👏🏻 We just added Whitney’s Willow & Big Jake couldn’t be more excited to now have three other play mates. 😉
