Simple Rustic Country Wedding

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my sneak peek of my dear friend Shoshanna Easling’s beautiful rustic country wedding this week. One word to describe it is “MAGICAL!” It is hard to believe that they pulled it off in such short notice. It is a testament to how more hands make work light and how you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make a wedding special, memorable, and magical!

I literally got a text from her the night before saying, “I think James and I might get married tomorrow.  You are invited.”  Hahaha!  This family makes life so much FUN and memorable!  It was so amazing that we are all still talking about it. If you have followed this nationally renowned master herbalist, business owner/CEO, public speaker, and critically acclaimed author, you know that their story is one for the books! You can hear more of what brought this “3rd Times a Charm” wedding into existence over on Shoshanna’s Instagram account @shoshannaeasling.

Isn’t this arbor amazing?!  Shoshanna’s husband James and their friend Scott put this together the morning of the wedding.  They had purchased some of the flowers the day prior and I cut the the crepe and myrtles from the local golf course and Shoshanna’s favorite red ones were cut from a nice Mennonite woman’s yard.  I had to knock on the door and ask her if I could cut a few.  The things I do for those I love!  (smile)

Shoshanna’s father performed the ceremony while their three precious babes and their closest family and friends looked on.  It was so touching to hear James and Shoshanna share their hearts and recommit their lives to each other and their marriage to the Lord.  So special to witness!

As the lovely music played in the background, their handsome son, Jeremiah James walked the gorgeous bride down the aisle while their nieces and precious daughter, Penelope Jane danced ahead of them.   There baby, Lincoln Michael brought a smile to all the ladies as he was walking with his big sister in his diaper leading the way.  He loves to be naked.  Hahaha!  He is such an amazing little boy and believe it or not, he was potty trained by 1 month old.  He reminds me so much of our own little fella when he was that age.  (tears flowing)

This was so fitting for this special and famous “Herb Girl”, they had made a walkway and path leading to the arbor with these dried rose petals from their Bulk Herb store.  Such a perfect addition to their rustic wedding theme and everything exceeded her inspiration pictures.

Even their furry friends got to join the rest of the guests on these fun log benches that surrounded the arbor area.

This gorgeous master piece was created by Shoshanna’s sister-in-law, Liz.  She did such a beautiful job!  It tasted just as pretty as it looks!

The rose petals that led a meandering path to the arbor, felt so nice under our bare feet.  It was a country wedding after all!  Loved that we didn’t have to stress over matching our shoes to our dresses.  Brilliant!

So thankful for this beautiful friend! She literally changed my family’s life forever, by simply caring enough to share her natural health knowledge and her strong faith in the Lord with a complete stranger!

I love how they incorporated fun summer games into the celebration!  They had a watermelon eating contest, a sack race, and a balloon bottom popping contest over on their sand volleyball court.  Living right next to the creek, made it easy to keep the littles happy while we were prepping for the wedding because they swam and kayaked right up until about 40 mins before the wedding.  What an awesome summer memory!

I got to put together the wedding bouquet!  What a pleasure that was! If you know me, I LOVE to create simple and natural beauty in the hollow!  She wanted it “wild”, but my perfectionist in me had to have some order to it.  Ha!  I think it turned out so pretty and the lace that she had, went beautifully with all the natural colors and gave it just the right amount of elegance to the “wildness.”   (smile)

It warms my heart to see how much this fellow homeschooling family is thriving now!  They have seen their share of major struggles in life, but they are persistent and steadfast and never give up. They have such a powerful and amazing testimony. They are thriving with a capital “T” and teaching thousands of other families across the world how to do the same.  Such a blessing beyond words!

I want to say “Thank You” to the sweetest couple our family has had the pleasure of calling “friends.”  You both inspire others to listen and obey God’s calling to be the light unto this world!  Keep shining, friends!

Until next time, remember to think outside the box and make life BEAUTIFUL!
